This tour offers the perfect opportunity not to follow the hottest tourist trails, but to retreat in an authentic castle and taste delicious, locally produced wine for a delightful Italian lunch. Torre in Pietra Castle, also known as Falconieri Castle, is a historic residence in Torre in Pietra. The castle you admire today is essentially the one left to us by the falconers.

The frescoes are perfectly preserved: we can recreate the glory of the Jubilee year 1725, when Ghezzi was commissioned by Alessandro Falconieri to decorate the main floor with scenes celebrating the visit of Pope Benedict XIII to the castle. Inside the octagonal church, the frescoes on the side altars are another testimony to his work. Finally, in the second half of the nineteenth century, the falconers died out and Torre in Pietra experienced a period of decline. In 1926 it became the property of Senator Luigi Albertini, who rehabilitated the land with modern techniques and made it one of the most prestigious Italian livestock farms. In 1941 it passed to his daughter Elena Albertini, married to Count Nicolò Carandini, whose heirs still own the castle.

The modern Torre in Pietra is characterized mainly by the breeding of dairy cows and the production of wine. Albertini also restored the castle, which had become dilapidated due to the carelessness and neglect of the previous owners, and restored the complex of the ancient adjoining village, making it the seat of housing for the employees, of production activities (cellar and stable) and of services for the company (workshop, saddlery, carpentry).

The farm extends over 150 hectares among rolling tufa hills and cliffs in the Roma Doc area: the vineyards cover 52 hectares, 8 hectares are planted with olive trees and 80 hectares are dedicated to the cultivation of cereals. The wine is made exclusively from their own grapes, grown organically with passion, attention and respect for the territory, which the owners want to express in the most appropriate way.
