Today you will immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the Viking era. The guide in Viking clothes will meet you at the pier in Eidfjord. Your guide for today is Mark van de Buerie, an expert in Viking culture & history, an owner of Viking Exposition – a small private museum. His wife Claudia is responsible for helping to preserve the Viking history of this region in Norway. They have built the exhibition themselves - they work closely together with archeologists from the University in Bergen to recreate all of the finds in the exposition.
You will visit the Ravenheart Hardanger Viking Exposition, will see documentaries from the University of Bergen, and learn about the local Viking finds in the area. You will have a talk around a campfire with a cup of coffee/tea and a piece of the home baked 'Mor Monsen', a classic Norwegian cake cooked by Claudia, and learn about the various items Vikings used during daily life during the time they lived.
Afterwards you will have a hikethrough Hæreid plateau to the Viking Burial Mounds. During this walk, the guide will talk about the history from 1875 and you will learn more about the Iron Age/Viking History.
