Fishing Legacy of Alesund: Learn & Fish
4 hours 30 minutes
Fishing onboard of a ship that is a replica of traditional fishing boats.
In the mid-19th century, Ålesund became the center for the fishing industry in the region and eventually for Norway as a whole. Around the same time, the first ocean-going fishing boats were being built. 'Storeggen of Ålesund' is a replica of a bank vessel from the 1890s. Today you will have a unique opportunity to embark the boat "Storeggen of Ålesund" and feel like a real fisherman.
Our tour starts at the pier and you will have a 30-minutes’ walk first. This walking part is a chance for you to see and feel the city a bit, to listen to the stories of the guide explaining the heritage of Alesund.
Then you are going to visit the Fisheries museum located in a unique wooden building that survived in the fire of 1904.
The highlight of the day is fishing with a rod from the boat deck. Perhaps you’ll catch a Borgundfjord cod? There is fishing equipment on board the boat for use by guests.
On the way back the boat will disembark the guests close to the cruise pier.
