After hours visit to Atlanic Park, barbeque & cooking class with a local Chef.

Board your bus and drive to Alesund Atlantic Ocean Park. Upon arriving at Atlantic Ocean Park for an after-hours private visit you will be met with an aperitif, a glass of Apple cider and some nice seafood pairing near the Herring Tank. 

Then you will enjoy a guided tour of the park. We start with the biggest Tank. The Atlantic Tank is one of Europe's largest saltwater tanks. See all the large cold-water fish that live in our oceans. The tank is 36 meters long and 17 meters wide, and holds no less than 4 million liters of unfiltered sea water. The acrylic glass is 26.5 cm thick and weighs 30 tons. The water intake is located about 800 meters off Tueneset, at a depth of 45 meters. The quality of the water in the aquarium is the same as in the sea at all times. The Atlantic Tank does not have a roof and is therefore illuminated by the ever-changing daylight outside. 

Then you proceed to the BBQ Grill outside (weather permitting). Here a small tasting of the Halibut and seaweed mayonnaise is waiting for you! 

After that you proceed to the kitchen where you will be cooking something typical Norwegian from really fresh ingredients under the guidance of the chef. Almost everything that you will use today is locally made, locally grown and of course the seafood – the best in the world, just outside the door… The cooking class’s focus is on fish Bacalao (how to get the perfect fish on your plate and some garnish tips). 

After some practicing, watching and trying your own cooking skills you will enjoy local Norwegian cuisine during dinner (seafood with a glass of wine or beer and a dessert from local berries, local eggs and white chocolate and seaweed with a cup of tea or coffee). 

Well-fed and happy say ‘thanks’ to the chef and return back to your ship.
